Synonyms are two words that mean the same thing. When we read and write we come across many words that are synonyms. Writers like to use synonyms in their writing to increase the reader's vocabulary and to make the writing piece more interesting. Antonyms are words that meant the opposite of each other or have different meanings. Antoynms help us to distinguish words that we can use when trying to show a comparison of two meanings. Homonyms


There are several types of homonyms. Homonyms are words that are spelled or sound the same, but have different meanings. For example, the word fan. It can be electric moving blades or someone who loves a sport's team. Homophone are words that have the same pronunciation, but different meanings and spellings. For example: aisle and isle. An aisle is a lane in a store where merchandise is kept. An isle is a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides. Homographs are words that spelled the same, but have different meanings and pronunciation. For example, the word bass. It can mean a fish or a deep voice. Listed below is a song about homonyms.
